Battborg with Witty Pi - planned ON/OFF timing

Forums:

Hi,

I have an IoT project that has to be portable and power efficient. I currently use a commercial powerbank connected to a Witty Pi mini in order to time ON/OFF sequences for my raspberry pi zero.

I would like to replace my expensive powerbank with a BattBorg setup but I still need to have the ON/OFF sequences timed.

Would it be possible to do this with the BattBorg and the witty?

Moreover, any iddeas on when the BattBorg soldered kit becomes available once again?

thanks

You should be able to connect BattBorg to the Witty Pi Mini. There are two options for connecting it :)

Option 1, the unpopulated 5V connector.
The best way to connect the BattBorg would be to use the 5V connector, marked 9 in the diagram below.
Unfortunately it is not populated as standard, so you would need to either solder a 2-pin header or wires into the connection to make use of it.

Option 2, a USB connector breakout
If you are not confident soldering you can get a USB micro breakout connector like this one:

You can then connect wires from the BattBorg to the 5V and GND terminals on the breakout connector and attach it to the USB connection on the Witty Pi Mini

We have been having trouble sourcing one of the parts we use on the BattBorg for a while due to manufacturing shortages, as such I do not know when they will be generally available in stock again.

The good news is that Kiwi Electronics still has some available in stock:
